Creating accessible tech which improves lives is inspiring my returner journey

Introduction

I started my career in Academia with experience in conducting legal and policy research as well as teaching law seminars. After completing my PhD, my first move into STEM was working as a project manager for a mechanical engineering company. In my spare time I enjoy swimming and working with women to raise awareness of reproductive health conditions.

Experience

My first move into STEM was working as a project manager for a mechanical engineering company taking on activities such as budgeting and coordinating tasks with other members of the consortium. Subsequently, I led a team for a project based on raising awareness about reproductive health conditions affecting 1 in 10 women.

I have created a website for a project that I run in my free time. I had to familiarise myself with digital and tech capabilities. Through this journey, I started to engage with the tech community in Manchester and discovered that I enjoyed learning tech skills.
