I'm currently a Senior Medical Writer with a background in biomedical sciences and medical communications. However, after discovering an undeniable enthusiasm for coding just over a year ago (I decided to start teaching myself python during a 3-week stint between jobs), I'm pursuing a career change into software development.
I want to move into software development because I love problem solving and how software development allows for creativity whilst still being fundamentally very technical. I'm also a big advocate of working collaboratively with the people around me, which many tech teams now foster as a way of working. Additionally software development has become ubiquitous in that pretty much every industry requires some form of it, meaning there's lots of opportunities to work in a wide range of sectors.
Finally, I love that the field is constantly evolving and expanding so there's always something new to learn, a different challenge to solve, and different tools/technologies/languages to explore - why wouldn't someone want to be a part of that?
In terms of what I'm looking for, I'd really like to get a role with a company that has a great culture, places a big emphasis on the support and development of its employees, provides lots of opportunities for growth, and rewards hard work.
