There’s a well known learning resource for coders and developers which has a category entitled #explainlikeImfive
We love this simple approach to topics and so in the spirit of #NationalCodingWeek we wanted to explain exactly what we do here at Tech Returners, you can read in detail across our website, blogs and marketing literature but when people come us, seeking a career in coding they want to know ‘how to do it’ and more importantly ‘ how we’ll help them do it’
So we’re here to share in really clear terms what we’re about:
We’re not a ‘bootcamp’ or just about the technical side of coding (more on that in a bit) we’re also not a ‘meet up’ group or similar and we don’t work with kids, we totally support getting kids into coding and the initiatives which support that but it’s not what our business is about, we’re not ‘just for women’ either although we are strongly affiliated with the women in technology community across the North West.
We provide the technical skills (coding) which allow individuals to access careers in technology, and we do this through our free 15 week programme ‘ Your Journey Into Tech’ It’s free because we work with businesses who care about the same things we do, they sponsor places on the programme and have the opportunity to hire into their teams from the individuals on the programme.
Then we help the people on our programme to find a role in technology elsewhere. We work with other businesses looking for talent and we know the market, software development is a highly sought after skill and we work together to find the right fit.
Obviously we teach coding, but we also focus on career support from writing CVs, to interview techniques, handling rejections and learning a little more about yourself and the journey you want to take on your coding career.
When we set up in 2017 we recognised that people returning from a career break for whatever reason are simply not being seen in the talent market, our vision was and still is to bring the two together. So everyone on our programmes are returning to, entering or re-entering a career in technology.
To be part of the ‘ Your Journey Into Tech’ programme, you need to apply, you do not need any prior technical skills or knowledge but you do need to want a career in technology and to have the desire to succeed, our course is intensive you’ll learn a lot in a short time and you will graduate fully prepared for a career in software development.
As part of your application we’ll interview you so that’s the time to show us your passion for a career in tech.
