Manchester-based Tech Returners have this week announced that Manchester Airport Group and Lloyds Banking Group have signed on to partner on the organisation’s ‘ Your Journey Into Tech’ programme which aims to empower returners and enable opportunities into technology by creating accessible routes into business.
The 15-week programme which offers flexible and part-time study is led by Tech Coach James Heggs and takes individuals through the fundamentals of software development alongside personal development and career support in a positive learning environment.
Manchester Airport Group and Lloyds Banking Group follow in the footsteps of brands including the BBC and AutoTrader, who have sponsored places on the course which has worked with more than 25 individuals to access careers in technology since 2017.
"I see the Tech Returners program as a great opportunity to think outside of the box when it comes to investing in people; nurturing talent, being proactive in relation to D&I and finding new ways to address the tech skills shortage in the North West. MAG-O is growing significantly this year, and whilst traditional sourcing methods will always have their place; we do need meet the increased recruitment challenges and demand for gender balance with fresh ideas and new thinking. We anticipate that the Tech Returners program will help support us in our drive to attract people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. People who will ultimately see new angles, offer fresh ideas, and really thrive in MAG-O’s creative environment."
“We are passionate about supporting opportunities in the local area such as Tech Returners – which opens doors for people of all walks of life leading to a new future in technology. Initiatives like these help put Manchester at the forefront of technology through improving digital skills and promoting inclusion in the local community.”
